St Deluxe After the Fire single launch

“With an explosive debut album as well as countless gigs, festivals and support slots under their belts, St Deluxe have bottled and distilled their sound ready to unleash it on the world. Working with such lauded production luminaries as Creation Records’ house producer and co-founder, ‘Slaughter’Joe Foster and Olympia’s K Records boss Calvin Johnson, St Deluxe have more recently enlisted the production duties of Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite for their latest epic, After the Fire. The b-sides for this download single include a version of The Modern Lovers She’s Cracked that would sit perfectly on The Stooges’ Raw Power album, and the recent reworking of album closer, Stop Begin eerily echoes Joy Division’s classic Atmosphere.

To help launch the single which will be available from itunes and all good download stores on the 1st of March St Deluxe have enlisted the help of Peter Parker and Licker.

Is This Music?

“www.myspace.com/peterparkerglasgow ‘Swallow The Rockets’ is the kind of exciting, messed-up pop that makes you want to pogo like a hyperactive child who has just smashed their neighbours’ window with a football. There’s nothing contrived, no fancy bells and whistles, just a band who know what a killer tune sounds like. And make no mistake, ‘Swallow The Rockets’ is a killer tune.”

Licker

www.myspace.com/lickermusic

Boy/girl vocals. Killer bass lines. Quarter pounder drums. Amorphous guitars. licker are ready when you are. Ready to share their love of all things old and new. And everything in between.

Of course, it was never meant to be this way. But nothing ever is. licker were formed from the ashes of canadian punk rockers runaway teen and uk indie no-hopers single child syndrome. Thrown together accidently on purpose, the band draw their influences from a diverse range of sources, which makes them hard to label, and keeps them immune from any flavour of the month scenes.

The off beat and tongue-in-cheek licker sound is underpinned by a real DIY ethic, where creativity, new ideas and the desire to be different override technical ability.
